Potentially great political move
I thought this to be a very keen insight and agree it could be a great political move:

I would say however that I am still wary of Sen. Lieberman in ligh of the critical juncture being reached in the Middle East and whether he could bring credibility to each side of the issue as an Orthodox Jew. I have always stood by that as the issue that keeps him from being President, but the more I think about it, maybe as we near (not necesarily soon, but I think it is heading that way) a compromise of some sort with Arafat gone, he could provide good guidance and an interesting perspective. Though what Arab states will honor his religion?
Damn, what do you guys think?

I don't think the link is working but I'm assuming you're referring to the folks at red state's argument for a lieberman sec of state. I guess it's a moot point now since Condi has been named, but I do agree that the idea was intriguing. I agree with your concerns about him being an Orthodox Jew, and I think that could be problematic in dealing with Arab states, but my position on that has changed in the last few years: I think we should do what's right and to hell with Middle East despots and European "allies." I would almost go so far as to say that his religion is a plus in that we would further prove that we never take any position in order to appease enemies. I think he would have been a good, solid choice. I really do - he has praised this administration on numerous occasions and has backed decisions despite the political consequences.
